Six O'clock Swill (2009)
Six O'clock Swill is an interactive and emotive solo that delves into Society's relationship with alcohol. This work takes inspiration from the sculptural work of Rodin, Mr Punch and William Hogarth's Gin Lane and Beer Street, and has evolved through London's Experimental Cabaret scene.
What begins as an amusing audience interactive characterisation of a drunken businessman, swiftly spirals into loneliness and alcohol-induced annihilation. Six O'clock Swill is a very emotional piece, questioning society's relationship with alcohol and the negative affects it can have on lives.
"Suitably alienating from the start... Smith's body-contorting choreography tells of the physical symptoms of alcoholism and the related mental health deterioration"
Sam Gauntlett (Resolution! 2010 Review)
"I really loved the atmosphere and story that was created."

Rumpelstiltskin (2007)
This classic Grimm Brothers' tale is re-told through dark physical imagery and atmospheric music. Two dancers and four musicians conjure a world of power, greed, and sinister magic. A world in which a living thing is more precious than any treasure.
"Any of the Grimm brothers fairy tales could have made an excellent starting point for a piece of music and dance, but what I like about Rumpelstiltskin is that it contains certain ambiguities about the eponymous villain. The movement in this piece symbolises the shifts of power within the story as spatial relationships, and highlights the differences and similarities between the two main characters. The music draws much of its material from the structural elements of the story, as well as certain sounds and images (the spinning wheel, the weeping girl, and the crackling fire)."
John Chambers
"The choreography was intriguing and well executed, the music captivating and shocking, and both were technically inspiring."

After They Left (2007)
A woman feels that her house and its memories are too painful, so she decides to move on and live in her garden for a while... Come and peek over the fence as she is left to ponder on her loneliness, and indulge in her imagination and environment.
Created through structured improvisation by both performer and composer, and using the life of Barbara Hepworth as stimulus, After They Left explores narrative, urban environments and the abstraction of emotions to immerse performer and audience in the world of this unresolved character.
"If Taxi Driver and, especially its legendary scene of the mirror, exposed you abruptly to the destructive power of a man's solitude, so does After they Left... A piece of dance and theatre that is beautifully disturbing, dark, poetic, raw and emotional... All at once..."
